| The Light's Warehouse |
The Light's Warehouse is an outreach ministry of A Journey In The Light Ministries
for the less fortunate of Wichita and the surrounding community. Our aim is to
provide one warm meal a week, and distributing USDA Commodities to whomever
needs it, free of charge. We were informed on March 15th, 2007, that we have
been approved by the USDA Commodities Commission as a distribution center for
the Commodities, and the USDA will provide some of the major commodities to use
in the lunch program. We are grateful that God has blessed our Ministry with
these approvals, making the major cost of the lunch program significantly reduced
to the ministry. If you have a picture ID with a permanent address, and meet the
USDA income guidelines, we will gladly hand out the USDA Commodities to you
once a month.
Some of the meals have included as the main dish turkey and dressing, meatloaf,
sandwiches, baked chicken, Poor Shepherd Pie; we always have hot vegetables,
usually have potatoes, bread, fresh and or canned fruit, desert, sometimes candy,
tea - hot or cold, coffee, water. We do have pop for 50 cents a can too.
We are always looking for volunteers to assist with this outreach.

- making and serving of the meals
- washing dishes;
- keeping table supplies filled;
- trash dumped;
- clean up afterwards;
- sorting and packing the commodities; and
- assisting with the publics filling out of the paper work for the commodities.

We have received our certification as a distribution point for USDA
Commodities. We will bag or box the commodities and have them available
for pick up. The only thing required by the person picking up the
commodities is they MUST have a permanent residence and be able to sign
their name.

We have reopened the Clothing Distribution! If you need some clothing,
come look our selection over. Take a plastic bag and fill it up. Enjoy!
If you have some clothing you want to get rid of - we would gladly accept
them for distribution in our Warehouse. Bring them by some Saturday, or
call one of the Pastors or Board members for pickups.
